A Great Escape

One day, my friends invited me to an all-night party. These were new friends of mine and I wanted them to like me very much. They were all older than me. One or two of them were even working. I knew my parents would never let me stay out all night, especially at an adult party. I asked them anyway. They replied, “ You’re only sixteen. You don’t understand the dangers of drugs , alcohol and such things at there parties.” they were real spoilsports.

In desperation, my friend Cheng and I decided to bluff them. I told them I was staying at Cheng’s house. Cheng’s parents were friends with mine. That night, I did go to Cheng’s house. Cheng told his parents he was staying at my place. Then. We silently left together for the party.

It was a wild party with loud, blaring music, wild dancers and plenty of liquor. It seemed that everyone was drinking at the party. Cheng and I refused to drink. We were just there to check things out. My friends laughed at us but we knew our parents would kill us if they found out the truth.

The party was fun. Cheng and I were on the dance floor for hours. Then, one of the men called us out. “ I want you to try something, ”he said. “ It will make you dance forever. It will give you lots of energy and you will never feel tired. In fact, you can stay out dancing all night and then go home and study for hours. It’s a magic pill. Go ahead -- try one. I’m giving it to you for free because you are my friends.” He held out two pills.

Instinctively, we knew what those pills were. We were not stupid. They were ecstasy drugs -- pure drugs. We shook our heads. “ No, thanks,” we said. At first, the men tried to persuade us. When that failed, they got angry. They tried to force us to take it. Cheng and I felt really frightened.  The men were beginning to pissed off and had a really nasty look on their face. All at once, they began to crowd upon us. “ Take it, take it! ” they said.

At that moment, I regretted lying to my parents and not listening to their advice. I wished I could turn the clock back to before the party. It didn’t sound fun anymore.

Cheng and I looked at each other and then run as fast as we could out of the party house. We were petrified. All we could think of was to get away from there. A couple of men began to chase us. Suddenly, a car screeched to a stop ahead of us. It was my father’s car. Cheng’s father got out and opened the door. “ Get in! ” We drove off. My father called the police and they raided the party. I found out later that almost every party-goer  there was a drug user. We had been lucky to escape.

Cheng and I had a long talk with our parents. Cheng’s parents had called mine and then discovered that we had tricked them. They rang up other friends and managed to find out where we were. To our surprise, they seemed to understand how we felt about freedom and independence but they did scold us. We apologized for both lying to them and for acting like idiots.

Nowadays, I get along better with my family. I will never forget that when I truly needed him, my father had been there to rescue me.

The Photograph

One day, I was all alone in the house. My parents had taken my siblings off  to visit my grandparents. I had refused to go as there had been a quarrel and my parents had left the house, fuming with anger. I didn’t care. I didn’t get along with my grandparents. I felt like they never understood me. They just nag at everything I do or say. I just wanted to be left alone.

There was blessed peace in the house but I felt a nagging guilt inside. I loved my grandparents. They would have been very disappointed that I hadn’t come. Why didn’t I go ? It was just stubbornness on my part.

After a while, the phone rang with a message for my father. I went to a drawer to take out a piece of paper to write down the message. Later, when I went to close the drawer completely, I saw something stuck inside. I pulled it out. It was a photograph. I was clinging on to my mother and my father was hugging us both. My uncle had taken it when I was nine years old. I remembered the incident very well.

I was playing outside my house. My mother was sweeping the porch. My father and uncle were inside the house. All at once, a pack of stray dogs came rushing at me. I screamed. My mother, on seeing what was happening, grabbed her broom and ran at me. I hugged her hard, screaming and crying. My mother shouted and waved her broom threateningly at the dogs. They backed away but refused to leave. They snarled. They were ready to jump at us at anytime. My mother was like a fierce guardian angel. She never let me go. Her eyes never left the dogs. She yelled at them. By that time, my father and uncle rushed out of the house. They shouted at the dogs and threw water at them. Looking confused, the dogs ran away.

I clung to my mother, weeping hard. My mother hugged me back as tight as she could and my father embrace us both. I must have clung on for a long time, enough time for my uncle to take the photograph.

I had a fever that night. My parents never seem to left my bedside. As I remembered, a wave of love rushed over me. I began to remember many other incidents where my parents had shown love and care towards me.

I went to the refrigerator to get a drink. There I saw a plate of snacks for me. There was a note stuck to the refrigerator, informing me there was a hot meal in the microwave oven. I sat down. I realized that my parents were still thoughtful and worried about me despite everything.

I went to the telephone and called my grandparents. My parents had not arrived yet. “ I’m taking the bus to your place. Grandpa,” I told him. “ I want to spend the time with my family. Tell my parents I will be there soon.”

Teenage Problems

Teenage Problems

In this era of globalization, teenagers are the generation of which will inherit the Earth in the mere future. Because of this, it is vital that the teenagers nowadays do not suffer from physical and emotional stress as they will be the future politicians, engineers, doctors, scientist  and many more which ought to bring benefit to the country. But, recently, Through the mass media, it has been clearly shown that teenagers had been facing troubles in their lives which may lead to unwanted outcomes.

One of the problems faced by teenagers nowadays is the common habit of smoking and taking in harmful drugs such as Opium and Heroin. Teenagers usually comsumpt these harmful substances to release their stress as they are incapable of dealing and overcome the stress. Besides that, it may had been caused by the invitation of friends. Teenagers nowadays would want to look ‘cool ’ and be accepted by many instead of being a weakling or a coward. But, as they smoke or take in drugs, they do not know the consequences of their actions. They would not have a very bright future ti live in and worst still, they will suffer from various type of diseases and eventually result in death. So, in order to tackle these, campaigns concerning these factors should always be held. Parents should also give their children the proper education and attention so that their child would not be involved in these.

Other than that, one of the major problems faced by teenagers nowadays is playing traunt. In school, the teenagers would face issues of boredom and disliking of the teachers. They would also think that education is not important as experience is what makes life more successful. So, they will skip school and ‘hang out’ at the nearest shopping complex or cyber cafes. Because of this. The school’s reputation and country’s of having excellent politicians, businessperson, engineers and others would be severely effected as we do not have much wisdom and intelligence in the people. So, to overcome this, the people around the country should act. Schools must have strict rules regarding the students who play traunt. Parents should also educate their children since young so that they will not be at fault in the future. In society, the shopping complex and cyber cafes should not allow students to enter it when school is in session.

In addition, the issue of illegal racing is also a common problem faced by teenagers. As teenagers will receive their driving license at the age of 18, they would probably misused it. They would it to have an illegal racing because of the request of friends. Besides that, the curiosity in doing illegal racing will also put them in trance for doing this. This a very dangerous and life-threatening activity as the teenagers are not familiar with the driving technique and skills. They would just race at high speed to show off themselves to the others without thinking that their lives would be in danger. In our country, the rate of teenagers involved in illegal racing has increased drastically over the years and will continue to increase. This will have a big effect for the country’s labour frequency as the number of citizens  will decrease.

Next, in the newspaper, we could always see news regarding of teenagers involved in premarital pregnancy. This is mainly caused by pornography and the thrill of wanting sex. Without thinking twice, teenagers will just have sex with their partner without the thought of the consequences and the materials used to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Thus, they had to bear their lives with the baby. As a result, the government has tried many tactics to overcome this issue. For example, the providence of sex education and campaigns have been held.

Teenagers are suppose to be the ‘building blocks’ of a country. Without a country cannot be unified and be at peace. So, everyone must take action to overcome the major problems faced bt them before things starts to get out of hand.

If I were the last man on Earth

What would you do if you had just got up from bed and you heard absolute nothingness except for the sound of birds chirping on your old oak tree at the backyard? And when you are heading downstairs to the kitchen for your breakfast, you did not smell the aroma of your favourite pancake served with glazed honey nor the scent of fried eggs and freshly bruzzed coffee in the morning. Then some strange thoughts were to pop into your head.

“ Mom, Dad, you in here? ” , you cried out but there was no sign of response.

You thought that they may had gone out in a rush and forgotten about you. So, you went out to go to school. You noticed that the streets were empty. There were no people and cars on the street. It was like a ghost town. As you reached school, the big gate was closed and shut tight and you took a peek in school.

“ Gosh! The building is completely deserted! Maybe there’s no school today. Yeah, that may be the case. Hmm… since there’s no school, I think it wouldn’t hurt a fly to go shopping, wouldn’t it? ”, a thought just popped into your head.

As you reached the nearby shopping complex, you noticed that there was no people around it. No workers, shoppers and others. Non! You wondered around and you just cannot seem to find anyone! Not even a poor old lady trying to cross the street. And the next thing you know, you were the LAST man on Earth! Oh my!!!

Well, if I were the last man on Earth, at first, I would think, hey, it ain’t so bad. I mean you get to have fun and whatever you want whenever you want it. You do not have to pay for the bills as all you have to do is just do things self-servicely. Besides that, you do not get your parents nagging you and annoying you to always study. School would be out and I get to enjoy my life!

But then again, with all that fun to yourself, there’s no way I will be happy, is there? I would not have anyone to share my happy times and memories with. And when I’m down, or just lost, I couldn’t hug someone to let my feelings out nor to ask advice from. All I can do is just to tackle the lonely, deserted world alone with nobody with me.

I’m sure you all don’t want to end up as the last man on Earth, right? So, to avoid this from happening, we can all still make a change to the world while there is still time and before it is too late. We should love our enviroment as it is a wonderful gift from God himself and not destroy it by protecting and conserving it. In this developing era, more plants and trees should be planted to help maintain the enviroment. I am sure with everyone’s help, we can all make a change . Even if it is just a small action, we can still make a huge difference.

So, if I were the last man on Earth, it would have been a creepy and sad experience. To prevent this, the enviroment must immediately be taken care of before time runs out.

Why did the chicken cross the road

Why did the chicken cross the road? This has been a joke and yet a mystery left unsolved. Some may say that the chicken wanted to get to the other side and others told that the chicken wanted to make love as a female chicken was on the other side of the road. Well, in my opinion, the mystery of the chicken crossing the road was actually a ghost story never been told to others. Even so, the ghost of the chicken exist and is still roaming the life if the undead.

In a small rural village located in the middle of nowhere, there lived a middle-aged man by the name of John. John is unmarried despite of his age and he works as a farmer of a chicken farm. Because of his carrier of being a chicken farmer, John’s life pretty much evolves around chickens! He normally talks about chickens to the other villagers and yet he can raise the most beautiful looking chicken in the village. John’s most beautiful looking chicken, a cock of a proud image with the most softest and colorful feathers you could not even imagine possible, is of his most prize belonging. The cock is is also his lucky cock whenever in a cock fight. When I mean lucky I mean seriously lucky. Whenever the cock is involved in a cock fight , it would always win.

But one day, a butcher from town came to the village to take a few chickens back to sell just as he did every few days.

“ Ah, Mr. Tan, you’re back. I trust that business has been going pretty well for you as you keep on coming back more often” , said John with a smile on his face.

“ You’re right, my friend. It’s because of all your hard work for raising such fine chickens. Without you, life would have been pretty hard ” , replied Mr. Tan.

After the conversation, they both headed to the barn where the chickens are kept. They both picked out the chicken that they wanted to sell. Suddenly, John’s phone began to rang.

“ You go pick whichever chicken you want. I’ll better answer that damn ringing phone. If I’m not back when you’re about to leave, just leave the money on my usual table.”

When John left, a very good-looking cock, which happens to be John’s favourite chicken caught Mr. Tan’s eye.

“ Well, old John did say I can have whichever chicken I wanted, so…………” , he began to said to himself.

He then catch the chicken without any second thought and loaded it with the other chickens onto his lorry. As John is not back from answering the phone, Mr. Tan left the money on John’s table and drove off.

That night, the cock was all curious of the terrible things that might happen it. With it’s eyes all wide open the whole night, it did not dare to shut it’s eye for a moment nor to blink as it was terrified and homesick. It just keep on looking around if there is anyplace that it can escape. But the night soon turn to dawn and Mr. Tan is already getting ready his tools and sharp knives as he is about going to kill the chickens so that he can sell it at the market. As the cock saw the other chickens being killed and blood dripping from their bodies, it made the cock shiver and brought fear to it’s heart. When it was the cock’s turn , the struggled to be killed by the sharp knife in Mr. Tan’s hand. At last, it broke free and the cock then ran as fast as it could out of Mr. Tans house. It was on the street, still feeling scared and curious of the route back home. Then, it settled down and wanted to cross a road. Just as it was crossing the road, a car driving at high speed hit the chicken and the chicken died instantly.

Even though the chicken is now dead, it’s spirit still lives on. It keeps on roaming the streets hoping to find a way home. So, if you are on the driving your new fancy car and you happen to see a chicken crossing the road, think carefully, you may just bump into the chicken ghost!

The Time I Read A Person Wrongly

It was the beginning of the school year and everyone's heart was filled with much excitement and anticipation for they had a new school year to looked up to. The same goes for me as I am going to be in Form 4. I went to my class and was quickly bursted into excitement as my old friends from the previous years are going to be in the same class as me!! :) When class was about to start, my new form teacher come into our class and gave us a small talk about our Form 4 life. Later, a girl with very nice curly hair and big eyes walked into our class. She was wearing our school uniform and had looked rather shy. Our class had become noisy when we saw her as we all busy disscussing whther she could had been a new transfer student. Next, our form teacher begin to introduce the new girl to us. He said, " Class, this is our new transfer student from Kuantan and her name is Emily. She is still quite new to the surroundings around her so please be nice to her and make her feel at home. " He then added some more, " Emily, you can sit with Mei Chee at the middle row there. " She then walked shyly to take her sit. Her first impression to me was that she is a person with few words and shy. At first, we had no conversation at all and was all the feeling of nervous. The atmosphere was very still and quiet as well. But I cannot stand the quiteness no more so I took up the courage and turned to her and said, " Hi! The name's Mei Chee, how do you do? " She then replied me. Our conversation started out with much awkward but then we started to build our conversations slowly. At almost lunch time and before teacher left, he reminded us that he will be collecting the new school year fees. During lunch time, I invited Emily to go to the canteen with me but she rejected the offer as she said she is feeling rather unwell. At that time everyone was at the canteen eating the meals and munching on their snacks they had juat bought. Except for Emily of course who was in the classroom resting. Break time ended with a flash and the students all head back to their owm classrooms. As I walked into my classroom and took my seat, I suddenly remembered the money in my bag I brought to school. I opened my bag and looked for my money. To my horror, I could not find my money or anywhere else in my bag. I quickly jumped to comclusions and looked to Emily. " You stole my money! Give it back! " I yelled out with much anger inside. " What? What are you talking about? I didn't stole your money." Emily replied. I added," Oh you didn't? Then how do you explain my disappearing money? It couldn't had just grown two legs and jumped out of my bag! Face it! Your the only suspicios culprit around here. Not leaving the classroom during break time and saying your not feeling well? Ha! Just some lame excuse to take the chance and steal my money! " Our quarrel remain for quite some time until our teacher walked into our classroom. " Girls, whats all this commotion about? Stop it immediatly! ", teacher cried out. " Emily started it, she stole my money and she would not confess and give it back!" The teacher then walked towards Emily and asked her, " Emily, what Mei Chee had said, is it true? Did you seriously stole her money?" She replied no. " Mei Chee, check your bag again to see whether your money is in there or not. I do as I was told to and took out everything in my bag. I flipped through everybook there is and just when I was flipping my Mathematics text book, an RM50 note dropped out. I then jumped with excitement and also with embaressment too as I had read Emily wrongly. She turned out to be the innocent one and I felt so sorry for saying all those mean things to her. " There, you have your money, be more cautious next time and next time don't simply jump to conclusion." teacher commented. I promised teacher that and after that commotion, everything returned to normal. I make up with her by apologising to her and luckily she was able to forgive me. We then became the best of friends again.

What I Like Best About Myself ?

People always say that human are not perfect. We tend to make mistakes in our daily life and yet we learn so much from them. For example, when we young and had just started to learn how to walk, we may fall down and injured ourselves with light bruises. But that's not THE END OF THE WORLD !! With these experiences we learned to be positive thinking and not to give up easily when the going gets tough. So, even though we are not a perfect someone, we should always think positively and learned to love ourself for who we really. As a child created from God, learn to love and care for yourself. For me, what I like best about myself is that I always done or achived something with polite or amicable as I am not a person who likes quarrels among people. Next, Iam an optimistic person. I always think that the day will be bright sooner or later even though the sky is filled with dark clouds. With this optimist mind of mine, I am sure that good things are going to happen. Another thing that I like about myself is that I never run away from difficult challenges. I will accept it with open heart and mind so that I can find a solution to overcome it. I will threat the 'challenge' as something more of a good experience to learn for rather than some 'boulder' blocking my way to success. In addition, I also have strict principles. Because of this, I learned to discipline myself better and not to be easily influenced with bad habits such as smoking and taking drugs which are very harmful to our body. As for my future, a world of peace and no war is what I want. With a world like that, people will be able to live in harmony, and making the world a better place to live in.
